Portal & Portal 2

The Portal series is infamous for its incredible writing, immersive story, and addicting puzzles. This mind-bending video game asks you to defy laws of physics in order to successfully navigate a series of puzzle rooms, all while being taunted! Well, even though our Puzzle Masters won’t taunt you, we promise to offer the similar exciting, challenging, and mind-bending puzzles that really force you to think outside the box! Like Portal, you enter a room and have to find your way out using only the clues and items provided to you. If Portal’s unique challenges and tasks delight and thrill you, then Room Escape Fairfax is right up your alley. We may not have Portal Guns, and we may not be able to defy physics, but we have mind-bending puzzles and challenges in abundance. And at Room Escape Fairfax, you get to bring all of your friends and tackle the room as a group! In the spirit of Cave Johnson, test your puzzle-senses in any one of our distinct rooms to get a real life Portal experience.

ilomilo

Truth: ilomilo is the singularly most precious video game. ilomilo is more in the vein of traditional platform puzzle games, though it subverts a major aspect of other platform puzzle games: it is three-dimensional. As ilo and milo traverse their little block paths, the whole platform shifts and moves, turning the upside-down rightside-up, and the rightside-up upside-down. The puzzle platforms of ilomilo grow increasingly more complex as you move through the levels. The blocks you walk across can be carried, can be angered, can turn you upside-down, can throw you to the left or right, or can shoot you to another part of the puzzle accordion-style. ilomilo is enchanting, challenging, and an absolutely delightful adventure. Like Room Escape Fairfax, ilomilo puts you face-to-face with complex thrilling puzzles that you have to work out with a partner–but with Room Escape Fairfax, you get to bring all of your friends! Get the same sensory immersion and delightful puzzle-twists as ilomilo with Room Escape Fairfax.

Luigi’s Mansion

An oldie but a goodie, Luigi’s Mansion combines quirky fun with a little on-the-edge-of-your-seat horror. This game’s perfect combination of silly and scary creates an engaging atmosphere that you can’t help but return to over and over. We often hear that people are hesitant to try Room Escape Fairfax because they worry it may be too scary. Well, if you like Luigi’s Mansion you’ll love Room Escape Fairfax! Both are scary in only a fun, positive way! If you like sneaking through Luigi’s Mansion trying to catch ghosts and unravel the mysteries of those haunted halls, then you will love Room Escape Fairfax, especially Molly’s Horror Room!

The Dark Souls Series

“Huh,” you might think. “Dark Souls is an RPG, not a puzzle game!” Well, even though the Dark Souls series is not directly a puzzle game it beautifully implements many thrilling aspects of Room Escape Fairfax. The Dark Souls series has a signature atmosphere of mystery, much like all of the escape rooms at Room Escape Fairfax. Dark Souls is infamous for pushing the player to stumble through its interactive landscapes practically blind: there is no sense of direction, and no map. The player in Dark Souls must navigate the landscapes with wit and critical thinking, maneuvering through dungeons, forests, and abandoned castles. Room Escape Fairfax offers Dark Souls lovers a real-life Dark Souls-esque experience. Ever wonder what the Undead Asylum would be like in real life? Or the Grand Archives? The Cure, Bowl Voyage, and Molly’s Horror Room all create the same edgy atmosphere as Dark Souls, but with more Jolly Cooperation! You’ll be thrilled, excited, delighted, and challenged. You and your team can co-op for real, taking on our distinct puzzles where the room itself is the boss. So buff-up on Intelligence, and maybe level-up some Faith, and prepare to “Praise the Sun” at Room Escape Fairfax! Time to really “Git Gud!”
